There are a number of organizations that provide offset-related programs and services. We have provided a list of tools and resources that project developers may find useful.
  • Glossary of offset terms
  • The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), a leading international certification system for the voluntary offset market, has a variety of tools for project developers. VCS adopted our test for determining additionality, the most crucial criterion for offsets.
  • The Greenhouse Gas Protocol, which is a collaboration between the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, has a variety of resources for project developers.
  • Clean Development Mechanism, which is part of the Kyoto Protocol, provides a variety of approved methodologies and methodological tools.
  • The Organization of Economic Development Framework for Baseline Development describes the main approaches and issues involved in developing a baseline.
