Voluntary offset work

We can partner with you to design voluntary offset programs custom made to meet the unique needs of you and your customers. For example, some of our clients want to keep it local by only funding offset projects that benefit their local economy and community. We are sensitive to client needs and market conditions when designing an offset program that meets your organizational and environmental goals.

The Climate Trust provides services for every stage of voluntary carbon offset program life cycle including:

Design of customized offset programs integrating the latest standards of the voluntary offset market
Selection and management of high-quality, cost-effective offset projects
Creation of customized online carbon footprint calculators for business, events, and other types of activities
Development of offset project protocols that meet current voluntary market standards
Management of program funds and offsets

Each service can be provided in isolation for partners seeking partial support or as a complete package for full-service program implementation. Our voluntary programs are targeted at organizations that anticipate a moderate demand for offsets (more than 10,000 metric tons per year).

The Colorado Governor's Energy Office has selected The Climate Trust to design and implement the Colorado Carbon Fund, a program that provides consumers with an opportunity to invest in high-quality carbon offsets in Colorado. The Colorado Carbon Fund is a groundbreaking program that will advance Colorado toward a low-carbon economy.

The Climate Trust is responsible for program design, offset project acquisition, methodology development, and fund management.
