The 113,000-acre project is located within the 160,000-acre Forest Stewardship Council-certified Upper St. John Forest in Northern Maine. Climate Trust Capital and The Nature Conservancy are cooperatively working over the investment term to increase the above average timber stocks on the property while continuing to actively manage the forest. A blended carbon and timber revenue stream will provide more flexibility to meet diverse forest management goals that include preserving wildlife habitat and improving water quality.
The carbon project will be monitored and verified over a 100-year period. The project was developed in accordance with the California Air Resources Board (ARB) protocol for U.S. Forest Projects.
