1st Issuance of CCP-Labelled Removal Credits from Northern Cheyenne IFM Project

Published: February 11, 2026 by Allyah Keith

The Climate Trust is thrilled to announce the first issuance of CCP-labelled Removal credits from the Northern Cheyenne IFM project in Montana! Carbon finance supports the Tribe’s forest economy by enabling wildfire restoration, increasing forest carbon stocks, and diversifying non-federal sources of income for the tribe. Reducing the financial pressure to harvest an already depleted forest, yields a suite of additional benefits beyond carbon removals and forest health. Improved forest management will help restore the local economy by generating more sustainable flows of timber, providing a steady source of employment, and supplying predictable revenue to Tribal coffers.

The project is under ACR’s IFM Methodology version 2.0 which made headlines this week for receiving approval from the ICVCM for the Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) label for removal credits.

This is just the first of The Climate Trust’s projects to issue CCP-approved credits. Throughout 2026 we’ll have several great projects across the US issuing high quality CCP-approved offsets.
